Chris is home... deployment over 05/23/2011
For those people that don't come here often. Chris is now home! YAY! 1 Comment Commendation 11/16/2010
A nice article on the FEST site about Chris receiving a commendation. There are some great photos as well :) Chris got some face time in a few of them! Thanks Mary for pointing this out to me! Check it out Gold Star Award Winner!! 08/16/2010
So I was checking out the company website and I stumbled accross this little article: Click here Which has lots of photos of a hail and farewell BBQ, which is generally where they welcome new members and say farewell to those that are leaving. During this Hail and Farewell, they also handed out a few awards recognizing excellence within the company. Guess who won an award??? That's right! My handsome husband! Of course he hasn't told any of us, so I'm assuming he's just being humble... which is why I had to brag to everyone we know for him :) Please congratulate Chris for the recognition of all his hard work. We love you! The Bazaar... or is it Bizarre? 08/05/2010
Last week Chris sent me a bunch of photos from the local Bazaar. The idea was to let me do a little "shopping". I'm planning on posting these photos over the next several weeks so you can see what the "local economy" in Kandahar looks like. At the end of those photos, Chris attached 3 more. Below is his description of what this vehicle is and how it is used. I personally just think it's pretty dang funny. Chris' description: The last few pics are of a jingle truck. They are very common over here they are what we ship a lot of stuff with, owned by the locals. I thought you might get a kick out of how they decorate. Honey, I definitely got a kick out of this :) Thank you for the smile. Chris' new address 06/17/2010
Chris made his official move last week. And I got his address! Here it is! Cpt Christopher Ericson 579th EN DET (FEST-M) KAF, Afghanistan APO AE 09355 Hopefully we'll have some pictures and news about the new camp in a few days. Movin, movin, movin... 06/04/2010
Hey all! Chris and his unit will be moving sometime in the upcoming few weeks to another camp. This means there will be a new address to send things to. They will still have people at Camp Phoenix for awhile, so anything you sent to the old address will be re-routed to his new camp, but it'll just take a little longer. Just wanted to share this in case you were/are planning on sending anything out. You might want to wait a week or two and I'll post his new address as soon as I get it. New 'do 05/27/2010
Cynthia's narrative: I'm sending him a large box of sunscreen. Chris' narrative: One more update. I shaved my head today and here is the result hopefully I don’t burn my head this time. Hmmm... looks... ummm... small. 05/25/2010
Cynthia's narrative: Wow... I actually don't have anything to say here. It just looks small. If I were a real estate agent, I'm not sure how I'd write an ad for this. Maybe something like: One cozy room in an exotic location. Shared bathroom. Large security/patrol group to keep neighborhood safe. Would that make YOU want to live there? Chris' narrative: After three days of travel we finally got to our Camp in Kabul. These are a couple of pictures of the room I am living in. Cozy... 05/25/2010
Cynthia's narrative: Chris had one night in Kuwait before heading to Afghanistan. He got to sleep in a tent. Doesn't it look cozy? It's a good thing he has Blue there to snuggle up to and keep him warm... in the middle of the desert. Chris' narrative: This is my tent that I spent the night in while we waited for our flight from Kuwait to Afghanistan. Nice digs. Kuwait airport 05/23/2010
Hello again friends and family. Unfortunately Chris has been unable to load posts, so I will be doing it for him (in case you didn't pick up on it, it's Cynthia). So over the next few days, I'll post some photos and Chris' long and rambling posts (ha! insert sarcasm here). Chris' post: Hey everybody sorry I have been so slow updating the site but here we go again. These are pictures after the 12 and a half hour flight to Kuwait. We are in the airport. It is a very interesting place. I took some pictures of Blue hanging around. | AuthorChris, the husband and father who is going on a deployment. Hoping to blog once a week... keep your fingers crossed! ArchivesMay 2011 |
